Would an IM even be worth it on a basically stock EM1?
Mods are CAI, soon to have a 4-1 header. I will not be getting an exhaust and really love the quiet. Anyone think I will see some gain from it? Suggest to me if you can a good one? I see AEBS, BLOX, and OEM ITR manifolds........whats the better one?
Better being, easiest to swap in and use all my stock parts.
Like I said, I dont wanna go ape **** here. Just build on what the car is.
Being, hell of a top end......and quiet.
TIA

i wouldnt suggest getting the IM without having atleast ctr cams in your car. the b16 manifold is best until you start getting some more mods on your car! lots of people say the b16 is even better for the street than the itr. but good luck with whatever future mods you do to your car. im glad to see there are still people modding their good old em1's
Reccomend a used ITR IM cause itd probably be a lot cheaper. However, in talking power gains per dollar, I would not change your stock IM, because a high flow exhaust would do more, as would cams and port/polish the head, head studs, up the RPM limit (cause of better cams) and get maybe stronger rods, sleeves...ok this is too much.
I'd reccomend a better TB and bore out your stock IM, or check a used GSR IM with its bigger TB, thatd be a lot cheaper, and more effective powerwise. ITR TB and IM if you can get em, cause a new aftermarket IM is gonna be expensive, and not worth the cost.
Its like...Slipstreams or Spoons for rims. Both great, but the Rotas are resonably priced, the Spoon are a LITTLE lighter, and for THAT much more money, you gonna notice the diff between the two verse the diff from stock and Rotas? Kinda same thing here.

you can get better mods for the value for now until you have more mods. If you really want an aftermarket IM wait till you have more done. (ie: exhaust, cams, gears, valvetrain). From what i've read in the past few years, you will see better results from an aftermarket IM (depending on what you get), but you'll see better results after cams and valvetrain. The b16a2 manifold is pretty efficient, again from what i read.

I agree with everyone so far, but the I'm a firm believer in getting all your bolt-on's before u go inside the motor. So yes u should get the header and the exhaust, etc and then get a IM, the aebs manifold makes the most power and is cheaper, the only problem is u have to block off a couple of coolant lines...but u will notice a nice increase in the top end.
That was the last bolt-on mod that was done to my car, before I had I/H/E/crome ecu, and the IM made the biggest difference.
, now for some street cams
