85 Accord - No Spark
Guys/Gals,
I'm stumped on this one. 1985 Accord 1.8L that ran fine until one day .. cut off, came out a few hours later - nothing. Once at home to check the problem, using a Haynes manual, I am stumped.
Can the "radio condenser" cause the car to not start? (Capacitor by the ignition coil) This is the only item that I was not able to test ..... Haynes manual suggest that it CAN cause a no-start condition, but that seems odd to me. The igniter sure seems like the likely cause, but following book test proceedure, it is good.
It has 140,xxx miles, and the timing belt was changed at 99,000. I did verify the belt was not broken by watching the rotor turn as I cranked the car. Even if it had jumped time, I would have spark, right?
Any suggestions? This is frustrating.
Thanks in advance,
Steve
