Whick Intake
Guys, I buddy of mine is looking for an intake for his teg. I have the Ice box and foam filter recovered from my stolen teg. Comptech wants 170$ for intake arm and misc brackets. Should he go with the Ice box or spend the extra 20-30 bucks for an AEM/Injen?
Ice Box:
1. Quiet
2. Slim chance of hydro lock
3. Great throttle response
AEM/Injen:
1. Sounds like a beast
2. Great top end
What do you think?

He could use his stock intake arm connected to the foam filter with the icebox covering it.
Edit: I would pick the comtech icebox. I believe i saw it making better power throughout the powerband and you dont have to fear of driving when its raining.

i have AEM right now but i might be changing over to comptech.
AEM is good but can hydrolock.
Comptech is good but it requires cleaning the foam filter every 2 oil changes. (if your lazy and dont want to do it just plan on putting in a k&n)

If it's raining and you have the AEM just disconnect the intake from the throttle body and no more hydrolock!!!!!!
But do some research, the intakes are very different and make different power at different points!
Plus the AEM growl is soooo nice, and isnt that what an intake is all about......the noise.
Both are good pieces and dont forget the bypass valve with AEM and you wont have any more problems. Good luck.

You need to clean the filter on the AEM once a year or so as well. Those are you choices for all air filters, paper and replace when dirty, foam and clean when dirty.

hydrolock is when you suck water into your engine through your cold air intake. it screws everything up because water doesn't compress like air does and BOOM! there goes your engine. cold air intakes are sometimes too low and then when you drive through a deep puddle...
