ran my 600rr in the 1/8 mile on saturday
I have a bone stock 05' 600rr that I drag raced at the local 1/8th mile track this weekend. My best was a 7.9 at 97mph. I was very pleased with these times. This was my first time dragging a bike and it is a hell of alot of fun. There is so much more going through you head on a bike than in a car(well my car at least). So what times are you guys putting down? I think with a little more seat time I can hit 7.6 or so. Im going to race an actual 1/4 mile on the 10th and I am very excited!
Not too bad man, it is a lot different on a can than a bike you got that right.
I run 6.70's at 115. Not much or a bike dragger, I can't get below 1.80's on the 60 ft.

I just recently got to run my 03 600RR at the local 1/8th mile track also... It was my first time ever drag racing the bike also so I was scared lol, All I could manage that night was a 7.60 at 97-98 mph and my best 60ft was a 1.8
There was an 05 600RR there that night running 7.30's bone stock, I was pissed lol.

I leave at 8ooo rpm's coming out on the clutch as fast as I can. It isn't exactly fun, it's damn scary actually but it nets me the best 60's when the track is hooking. Otherwise it just spins (even more scary). I wouldn't reccomend launching that way unless you are used to your bike though, a track acts completely different than the street so you just need the seat time to figure out what works for you.

I practiced launching my friend's '03 600RR a few weeks ago. It needs to be revved ALOT to have a decent go from a dig.
10,000+ rpms. I was trying at 11,000 and it would still bog some.

It carries the front about 6 inches from the line to about redline. Took some getting used to though.
Not the greatest pic but I pulled this off a video and that is about how high she rides all through first.

I also launch around 8-9000 while slipping the clutch. Anything less and it will bogg down. Ive been practicing a new method that seems to work better though. I hold the front brake and rev to about 10k and begin to slip the clutch to wear it is almost about to break the rear tire loose, on the third amber i dump the front break and slip the clutch very quickly. This method seems to work well but I have not tested it out on a track yet.
Mag00n, I don't see the point of you replying then, I am sure there are plenty of people who think it is pointless but the nearest road coarse to me is 5 hours away. I prefer to maintain my 0 points on my license and my 600 dollars a year full coverage on my bike so I go to the drag strip to get my speed fix. I can lay a bike on the rearsets with the best of them and drag a knee on a public road as well but what is the point in risking my life and the lives of others just to get a bit of an rush? I will stick to drag racing.

It means that the suspension is compressed with the use of straps. A lot of people do it when they drag their bikes.

Yep the straps go on these brackets that mount behind your calipers and loop over the frame. When they are loose, it's normal, when you cinch them down though, it compresses the front and is good for about .2 in the 60 ft.

Mixed with this, it dropped my 60 but a little over .5

All together, she sits on the ground

It can be raised back up for corner carving in about 30 minutes.

I tried lauching my 6ooRR @ 9ooo rpm and the damn thing wheelied on me I really have never tried it again. Guess I didn't put enought weight on the front end.
Nice 1ooo, by the way !

It's not about putting weight over the front end (although you do want to tuck over the tank as much as possible. It's really more about slipping that clutch.
Right click, save as... these videos are the next best thing to being there talking to the riders who know how to drag race bikes.

Matt, that guy on the 10 is riding the hell out of that thing, I wish I could 60 like that.
Anything you see Schnitz on is going to be faster than pretty much anyone else out there, he is the man by far. I do a good bit of my shopping through him.
