coilovers with stock struts?
Yes and this is very common to do. Not the best method but if you want to get low then it's something you do for very cheap.

Agreed. But to someone who was thinking about putting coilovers on stock shocks, I assumed he didn't have a lot of money...so I provided the cheaper alternative to full coilovers.
