Default Bypassing The Parking Brake Detection on the Alpine IVA-D310

Hey guys I've recently installed the new Alpine IVA-D310 indash kit, the Dvd players is a sweet toy, but with one problem. By California state Law Alpine is foreced to show how to install the dvd player so it will only play when the parking brake is on. That's where I need help, I need to figure out a way to by pass the parking brake detection and some folks have been telling me about getting another switch and having that act as a parking brake, but no one knows how to go aobut doing it....Any Suggetstions to where i can ride with my parking brake off and still have movies display while i drive?

This is so easy, if you can fall out of bed. you can do this.

You do not need to add anything or rewire anything, all you do is back off on the parking brake adjustment enough so you can set the parking brake lever to the first "click" or the first spot that turns on the park brake warning light in the instrument cluster, without applying the brakes, to be sure, jack back of car up and make sure brakes are not grabbing AT ALL. 94

I hooked up mine up to my headlight fuse on a switch. Turn on headlights, turn switch on/off, turn headlights off and your set

i have the eclipse avn5435 in my 03 navigator and for this unit all you have to do is ground the parking brake wire. it should be the same with yours.

No, alpine makes you do a sequence.. something like footbrake on, e-brake on, e-brake off, e-brake on, footbrake off. I dont' think that's right, but you get the idea. Alpine makes it harder... they are a smart company and I bet thought ahead about the law suites that are now popping up and made it harder to bypass to protect their own ***

buy 2 toggle switches and hook up the parking brake wire (from the hu) to a ground with one switch in between. hook up the regular brake wire (from the hu) to a 12v source with the 2nd toggle switch in between. whatever the sequence should be you can toggle do it with the switches.

For the rest of the post's you don't need switch's, follow the directions I gave,..

this guy's got it right, but if you're hell bent on having a switch, then leave the foot brake alone, 'cuz if you change you'll only make the sequence more confusing. all you need to do is find the wire that goes to the parking brake (either yellow/black or yellow/blue I can never remember) and put a switch inline, so that one side goes to ground and the other to the unit.

I just got mine working with the PAC TR-7. It was easy to do...

But I'm having a problem with the mounting of it (in my CR-V). Are you guys using the sleeve it comes with, or did you get a separate mounting bracket?
