Dpfi to Mpfi converson timing problem
I have a built d16a6 in an 88 std hatch I converted to mpfi and now motor cranks and runs but has 50 deg. of timing also throws code 9 sometimes. I have checked cam timing and it is correct. Any help please ?
These may be stupid responses but are you using the spark plug wire coming off the plug that is closest to the crank pulley? Is the crank pulley mounted right using the chuck key? You know Honda engines rotate backwards?
By built do you mean adjustable cam gear, aftermarket ignition, deck shaved?
Which code is 9? I'm too lazy to get the repair manual out of the garage but if you retrieved the code you should already know what it is.
It runs but does it run well?

the motor was built by DFE Enterprises, it has a ported head, 1mm oversized valves, Web cam, Ferrea rods, JE pistons, and is balanced. The code is for the cylinder position sensor, and I am using the #1 wire to check the timing. I have also checked to make sure the timing belt is not off a tooth. I am getting a new distributor tomorrow hope it works ?
