how good are Hankook Ventus HRII H405 tires
i need a new set of tires and i was going to get the falken ziex for $56. but then i found a site with the Hankooks for $46. i am not going to race on these but i do like to have faith in my tires that they are going to hold on a turn. are the ziex worth the extra $35????
I really don't know anything about that particular Hankook tire, other than the fact that it's H rated, which is not all that high a speed rating.
The Falken Ziex (there are a couple of tires by that name) are all-season tires. If you're looking for a tire that you can use in snow and frigid cold as well as in warm weather, the Ziex will do that, and that Hankook won't. I would not recommend that Hankook tire for winter use.
On the other hand, if you're not going to use the tires in winter conditions, there might be better performing tires you can get for the money than the Ziex or the H405. You can spend a little more and get great bang for the buck with a tire like the Kumho Ecsta SPT or the Yokohama ES100, or you can spend the same amount of money and the Fuzion ZRi (which has a W speed rating) will probably outperform the Hankook.
