Default Stainless Steel Filter

I just bought a CAI for my car. It came with a stainless steel filter. I have never seen one of these before. I'm assuming that it probably won't filter as well as cloth or paper. Is this true?
Also, the sound is very loud from this filter. Sounds very ricey and hallow. Will a cloth filter give it more of a throaty sound?

Yes steel!!! I bought it on ebay. It didn't say that the filter was steel.

Just to be on the safe side, I just went to autozone and bought a cheap cloth filter. You know...the ones that come in Blue, Yellow, Red, and Chrome? I know, it's not a K&N filter, but I'm poor and it does the job.

ahh, the old metal mesh filter. my mom has one of those in her range hood over her stove. does a nice job catching oil and grease. i would never trust one in an automotive environment.

i'd go with the old K&N stanby.

u guys never seena stainless steel filtered? blitz has one, called the "SUS power air cleaner"...dunno how well it works, but i see 500+HP JDM monsters using it, so im assuming its not bad shyt...and HKS has their own version of the stainless filter, though it isnt as popular as there mushroom shaped "super mega flow"...as far as the ebay one goes, i dunt trust ebay filters period, but i dunt think a stainless filter is inferior to a cloth one neither, if it is engineered right it can maybe even, dare i say, better?

take a trip down to advanced auto or autozone... you should be able to find APC's RE(?) filter that's stainless steel.
