Final Drive Questions. How do I know?
I have read I don't know how many post about final drive on the site and can't filter out fact from bullshit. I am running a B18C5 w/S80 LSD Tranny. I have no clue if my tranny is usdm or jdm. Is there a way to tell?
I am running 195/45-17's and high thirteens in the low hundreds 100-103. I always hit the traps in 4th is my rim and tire selection killing me if I am looking for mid to low thirteens not to mention this is almost all motor with a few other upgrades AEM intake DC 4-2-1 header APEXI catback and APEXI vafc.
Any suggestions or input?
And could someone please differentiate all the bullshit on final drive. Like fuel economy like how much of a difference is it really, variances in rpms, some actual torque comparison numbers. I know the JDM and USDM ran different size OEM tires and that will affect performance. So put that aside JDM vs USDM final drive with the same tire size what are we looking at.
And also I just busted the bottom of the casing on my S80 in a wreck what all model of tranny casings can I use to rebuild mine. Or can I only use a usdm S80 LSD.

when you have your trans apart, you can count the teeth on the ring gear, and the pinion gear. also, you can use any hydro case's to put it all back together.
So you are saying any hydro tranny that is b series should be perfect to put the insides from an s80 witn no complications. If there are any mods that have to be done I am not up for that. I want the easiest way out if that means buying a new s80 and parting mine out.
