whistling sound after Intake instalation??????
I just installed an Ebay special Cold air intake on my GFs GSR. Everything went fine untill I took it for a test drive. It drove great but under throttle, there is a whistling noise coming from what seems like down near the filter. I tooke the whole thing out and tried to see if there was something stuck but didnt see anything. What could be making this sound? Its almost like there are a bunch of birds behind the front bumper and its getting really annoying.
What you are experiencing is normal of most aftermarket intakes. If this becomes too bothersome to you, and/or the driver, you might want to consider swapping out the CAI for an Icebox.

This sound is typical of most CAI's. Just try to get used to it.

I could be wrong because I don't know alot about different brands of intakes, to me an intake is an intake, but I believe they are made by Comptech. The ones I've seen somewhat resemble a stock intake.

The whistle is caused by the spark edge on the throttle blade, inside the throttle body. Breaking the edge makes the whitsle much more quiet.

i used to have an aftermarket short ram intake but then i got tired of the whistling noise so i put a stock ITR arm and box with spoon drop in, now the noise is solved. and im liking the stock look too so when the po's pop my hood they wont see none.
