Default Will a P30 work on a B18C??

Hi im just in the process of swapping my B16a2 for a B18C. Im keeping the loom & ecu that came with the B16 wich is an OBD1 with a P30. The B18c ran obd2 and a p72.
What i want to know is will the P30 work on the B18C properly?
your help and advice would be appreciated thanks

The maps won't be 100% correct, and it won't control the IABs, but both of those can be fixed with a little work. If you get a new intake manifold, that's one problem out of the way, but that's up to you.

IABs are the intake air butterflies, the turny thing in the intake manifold. If you've got another intake manifold without them, there's nothing to worry about.

I think i know what you mean the B18C intake manifolds dual butterfly thing, thats the reason why i bought another inatke mani
the only thing i am worred about is that it may not correctly fuel the B18, would i be running lean with that ECU or is it sufficient?
would i expect it to show any check engine lights etc?

It will be running a bit lean due to the different fuel maps. It would be best to get it tuned, or at least turn up the fuel pressure a few psi, that's what I did on my B18C using a PR3 ecu from the B16, A/F ratios are right on. You unless you're not connecting anything, like the knock sensor, I don't think you'll have any check engine lights.

hmm yea thats what i thought too.
What could i use to turn up the fuel a few psi? ive got a walbro 255 fuel pump dunno if thatll help.

(By the way my B18C engine is built with 9.1 comp pistons and rods etc im just waiting for a few turbo parts. i will be get it tuned soon. but i need it to run so that i can get to work an back)

An adjustable fuel pressure regulator will work fine, but if the compression is lowered like that, it's almost not worth it. There is also some timing pulled out of the P30 maps, so I think you'll be safe.

I'm not saying your motor is worthless. I mean it's not worth the hassle of buying and installing a fuel pressure regulator because the lowered compression won't have as much tendancy to knock as the higher compression of the stock motors, so the reduced fuel and timing won't be a problem.

Trust me, I have no room to talk when it comes to turbos and motors being worthless. I can't afford boost, and I really wish I could...

hehe a bit of misundrstanding im from the U.K and locally when we use "worth" its means worthwhile. So what i was saying is that the fuel reg wont be a worthwhile mod?

so should i be Safe driving with 9.01 comp on a stock p30 until i get tuned for boost.

thanks again for your continues help

Yes, I would say it will be safe to drive on the stock P30. Sorry for the misunderstanding, but you know what I mean when I say that you won't really need the adjustable regulator to add the fuel.
