Here is my problem. I had an Si trans a while back that came off my old SI hatch ( 1991). I then reomved it from the hacth and installed it in my 4 door. A couple of years later it went to ****. First my 2nd gear would pop out then it got stuck one day and i could never get it in 2nd at all. It then was removed and till this day sits in my garage wraped up in hopes of using it for parts. The same goes for the Dx tranny that came originally with the dinky d15b my 4 door had. this too is in the garage.
I realized this was a good time to get another one so i sourced a JDM 1.5 tranny from SKN motors in Gardena, CA. I bought it and it ran fine up until maybe 3 or 4 months ago when i noticed it was difficult to shift from 1st to 2nd at high RPM's ( racing at fontana and LACR).
So now i have my old Si trans ( in the garage with a fucked up 2nd gear ) and a DX trannie with a bad 3rd and the tranny currently in my 4 door. The thing is i would like to attempt to swap out the gears that dont work on both trannies and put the good ones in to make a tranny that has a good 2nd and 3rd. However im not sure if it would be too difficult.
I have had my share of engine build and have fabbed up many other things like turbo kits but i would like to get some input from the guys here who have attempted this.
any positive input would be greatly appreciated.

im fairly sure that you would need a press and sum special tools that a honda dealer might have. i don't think its a "crack the cases and swap **** around" kind of an affair.
and the reason that the trans will not go into a certian gear is probably not going to be because the "gear" is fucked up, because the main shaft is in constent mesh with the counter shaft. if the gear was screwed up,the trans prbably wouldn't even turn. the reason for not being able to "find" a gear would probably be a bent shift fork or bad syncronizers, not the gears.
my best advice, being a mechanic at a honda dealer, would be to take it to a transmission shop, they will be able to tell you what is wrong with it and they might be able to take components from the 2 tranys you have a make one good one. good luck

yeah you probably have a point. it might be a fork of bad synchros. myabe i should take it to gear speed.
Hmmm, i really want to learn how to fix trannies though.

hey if you want to learn to rebuild your tranny you should look in to buying this dvd i found at inlinefour.com its called omniman's 200whp all motor b16, it has over 6 hours of video with tons of step by step instuctions, thay show how to regear, replace a clutch and flywheel, and thay show how to put new sencro's on! and its not only transmissions thay also show the complete rebuild of the b16a, the block and the head. the only down fall is its $69.95 but its a 2 dvd set so thats not too bad. and trust me its worth every penny! the best dvd iv ever bought. well i hope this is a help to you and heres a link to the site if you deside to buy.
