Thinking about spray painting my bike...
my bike is currently primered flat black at the moment. i want to paint it red, but i'm pretty broke right now. i'm not very **** and just need something that will make my bike look decent i've thought about just spraying painting and clear coating it. can it be done and turn out nice? i know that the prepping will be the most important part. for those that have spray painted their bikes, can you chime in and give some suggestions or maybe even post pictures of bikes you've rattle canned?
There have been several bikes posted here that have been rattle-canned. Given the proper prep work, they turned out pretty damn good looking.
I don't know if you realize, but not all paint is created equal. (I'm not making judgement, just stating some things)
You'll want paint that can flex somewhat, as your plastics don't remain rigid, especially in removal/installation.
Spray can clear coat isn't going to protect like professional paint. The immediate thought is say if you spill a little gas filling up, it will probably eat the paint up much faster.
I'm not a body work expert and I'm sure there's much more. I'd suggest just waiting until you can afford to paint it. You could possibly look for some lightly rashed plastics for sale? IMHO, I'd take rash over bad paint.

i jsut spray bombed my upper fairing on my f4i. got it from color-right.com i think it was. it was a great match and came out really glossy with the clear coat.
you have to have good prep work though for it to come out well

You stand out better at the track

<---who is trying to figure out what color he wants his track skins.

i'm currently painting the bike as we speak. i've spent about around $90 on paint and a bunch of misc. crap i didn't have, but needed. so far i've only gotten the front fender finished and for being rattle canned the thing looks damn good. i'll try to have pictures up when i'm done.
before bed time i got the rear tail all painted and clear coated. also got the whole front cowl sprayed, but not clear coated yet.
. just gotta wait for the plastic epoxy to cure before i start sanding them down and prepping the fairings to be painted.
