crx si sunroof help
Mine did this. The sunroof closes by a plastic piece screwed to the rail.. sometimes that piece gets broken or the screw comes loose. In my case it was the screw and I only found this out by stripping apart the whole interior to drop the sunroof!!! Had a good laugh at the time there.
You know you can also manually crank the sunroof closed with an alen wrench (The slot is somewhere around the dome light) if the above mentioned plastic part isnt busted.

i agree. those plastic end caps on each side of the rails break easily. the sunroof panel is probably misaligned because of it. crank the sunroof back manually, then take the panel off the rails by using a 10mm wrench under the panel. then use a smaller, 8mm i think, to take off the plastic end cap on both sides. now you can totally remove the panel and realign and reassemble it.
its a totally pain. when mine broke, i had to train myself to NEVER fully open the sunroof, or itll get off track and i have to fix it again.

it seems like the same problem i had with my mazda protege lol car gave me problems than it was worth ...lol thanks for the info guys ill try 2 use da crank 2day cause the car is going out next week to get painted ....and i dont want white seats when i get back ...lol
the first and second reply are correct i had to do this like 3 weeks ago!!. thatdamn swrew was loose. well at least i diditn have to buy a new assembly. it would take you about an hour or 2 to fix if you got a manual.
I have old pics of this stuff so I might as well post em.....
There's the screw that needs to connect the plastic yellowish piece to the thing that looks like part of a mousetrap in order for your sunroof to close.
That's what it would look like if the plastic piece is broken
A sunroof skin just for reference

I had same problem with mine and after buying 2 sunroof assemblys off ebay and both had same problem i basically bit the bullet and bought a new tray and EVERY SINGLE moving part.
LoL i even tried to open up that lil assembly that houses that plastic part...didnt go to well...
O well now i have a completely new sunroof (i also have that carbon fiber sunroof panel that lets it stay functional
) and no worries

would this have anything to do with why my sunroof only closes all the way on one side, the other sides corner stays up, moves all the way forward and back but when it tries to go down the drivers side doesnt. how do i remove the sunroof. do i need to take out the headliner?
remove the panel first. follow the instructions i said above.
then you can see whats wrong.
that white plastic piece was always broken on mine as well. but it only prevented the broken (drivers) side from raising all the way. it kinda dragged against the roof as it closed.
if you want to drop the whole sunroof assembly, you have to take off the A pillar plastic on both sides, the dome line and interior plastic, then the headliner and it will be completely obvious how it all comes out.

i removed the top panel, and can find anything as to why it doesnt close on that one side, when a piece breaks off is it obviou from looking above. those pictures are a little confusing, because i can see alot of those parts lookin at the sunroof while its in the car, so im not sure whats what.
then just drop the sunroof assembly. youll see whats wrong.
but, theres really nothing servicable. even that white plastic thing could not be repalced since its integrated to the rest of the assembly and riveted in. so dont get your hopes up.

if thats your problem, then you need to take out the sunroof switch and clean out the contacts and it will work fine, all the time.

Actually the white plastic parts are servicable...
Its called the sunroof cable assembly.
Try to find a schematic, it will help alot...Local Honda dealership should be able to print one out for you...they did for me

sorry to drag this on, but what exactly needs to be removed to remove the headliner. i removed the mirror, the rear quarter panels, the trim pieces that go alone the doors on the inside..?

There is an amazing 21 page manual on just about everything you'll need to maintain the 2nd gen sunroof up there on google. Has good instructions on how to drop the panel and can answer just about every other question there is.
It's a pdf file...
