Lincoln 185 or Miller 180 TIG
I've used both, and dealt with the representatives and techs with both companies...
I would reccomend the Miller...
however, my first suggestion would be to buy a used miller. It will still give you many years of good service, but you can get twice the machine for the same money as a new one. For example, I bought a Used Syncrowave 350 with leads, water cooler, and cart for $1500...the same or less than you will pay for the Miller 180.... but got a machine that will run 400amps, among many other advantages.

yeah cool... couldn't find any used ones... i don't do any thick projects.. maybe in the future.. doesn't hurt to have a more powerful hence 400amp machine.. that's nice!!! for now the 180-185s will do....
Both of these machines, the 180 Miller and the 185 lincoln will be pushing their limits and maybe even have some trouble with 1/4" aluminum, welded with AC current.
I'd still reccomend you waiting and looking for a deal on a bigger used machine. When you're looking at a machine you hope to keep for many years, waiting a month or two to find the right one isn't much.... but that's up to you in the end.
