Default crx won't start... fuel pump not coming on, weird cel, etc

so I've been in the midst of a clutch change on my crx(88 dx with a b18a). After getting that all taken care of(huge hassle), the car won't start. It'll crank and crank and crank, but won't start. The fuel pump doesn't seem to be priming when I turn the key to the on position, the fuse for it checks out ok. Also, the check engine light comes on when I put the key to the on position, but never goes off(normally it'll go off shortly there after, with an audible click from the main relay... not getting a click either). When I try to look at the ecu to see what code I'm getting, the led doesn't blink.

any ideas?

hmm...

I dont know if this would cause it, but it certainly wouldnt hurt to check it out anyways.

Look at the ECU fuse in the underhood fusebox maybe? I dont know if the check engine light would still come on if the fuse was bad, maybe?

i kinda have the same problem with my crx but I'm not getting any codes.

I changed my fuel pump, and still have the problem, a buddy of mine told me that it is the fuel relay befind your hood release, check that out and it should fix your gas problem

Sounds like the main relay. Almost all 88-91 civics that i've seen do this. Best thing to do is pull it out from behind the hood release, pop the cover off the relay board, and resolder all the connections. Works very well, and beats the $90+ that Honda wants for a new relay.

Well, I'll be sure to check that out here shortly... seems so weird it would go out on me just from pulling the tranny off, but I suppose weirder things have happened.

I would check the main ground for the ecu and main relay on the thermostsa housing. My car did the same thing to me. went through 2 relays and 2 ecus. Fixed the ground and started right up.

well that was fun while it lasted...

started the car after resoldering the main relay... worked fine... drove around for a while, pulled into the driveway, turned it off... turned it back on for good measure, worked fine...

fast forward about 3 hours. Get in the car to drive, turn the car and nothing... putting the key to the on position and everything is fine, but turning the key to start and it does nothing. No single click of a starter, no clicklicklicklick of a bad starter, no cranking without starting like it was before...

did you check your fuseable link? IT also sounds like it might be the starter silenoid, when they go your starter wont make any sound at all,

starter on a b18a in a crx is practically impossible to get to, as the rear bolt on is so damn hard to get out it's rediculous. last time I took it off, I had to come in from the passenger side wheel well, with the axle out
