if your handy and worked on cars before, then save the $100 and diy.

If you're somewhat technically proficient, you could do it but i'd suggest a helms manual... http://www.helminc.com

Being that the helms is $62 tho, just have the guy do it for $100...thats nothing for labor.

if you do find one and it needs to be shipped get it shipped to a business address and it will cost 1/2 that
(even if you dont know anyone who owns a business, most places will allow you to ship to them, if you ask nicely)

Hm, so what happened to the $160 tranny? I thought it sounded a little too good to be true.

Anyway, as for your original question, I'd have someone do it if it was only $100. Safe yourself the trouble. It's easy, but it's a pain the *** job. Compare it to an oil change/tire rotation. Very easy, right? But you don't want to be bothered to do it when you can get it done for less than $20.

Look in the Classifieds here for cheaper tranny prices. As said before, a D-series shouldn't be THAT much.

Shouldn't be that much actually. Package them correctly, with the right carrier, and it shouldn't be more than $50. I believe there are a couple of "tranny shipping" threads here.

Then look for your specific category of parts. Or even look at the regional forums, you might find one in your area and save on shipping altogether.
