buy an old bike you can drop while you are learning, the crappier bike you learn to ride on the better you will be on a good bike

I would have to agree. Dont worry about growing out of a bike. It sounds like you dont have very much experience, I would recommend getting an older Ninja 250, or old CBR F2. Dont let a friend talk you into a bigger bike or anything, start small learn the basics. I didnt start out on a 250 and wish I would have. The skill you learn to perfect with a 250 is about everything but speed. Then you work that in later when you are more experienced.

Good Luck, and Be Safe. You automaticly have fun.

100% Agree. Also, sit on the bike that you are interested in and make sure it feels comfortable.

staying under 750 is about right. i'm 6'1" at 250 and ridin a 600 RR the best start bike for anybody. good powerband and good response for me, 750 is a pretty good number especially since you got experience of riding a bike with that dirt bike of yours , but didi you ever ride it on the road, that's what will help out the most.

600rr... good starter bike? Dont be giving advice if you dont know what you are talking about.

I dont believe Honda designed the 600rr for beginners(such as yourself).

is there a big difference from riding a sport bike to a cruiser , bc ive found a few old non sport bikes around here that are pretty cheap . I was just thinkin about pickin on up to learn on so if i screw it up im not out much money at all . ive found 2 ninja 250's around here sat on one , they seem really small for me my knees are close to my arms . Im 6'4 with really long legs so i dont know . Maybe ill wait untill after i go though the training class .

Yeah I'm about 6'3 150 lbs and I started on a Ninja 250- don't get me wrong it's a GREAT starter bike, but I'm glad I moved up to my F4i

This is bad advice; ignore it.

A ninja 250 would be great for you to learn to ride on. Im 6'2 and didnt have a problem riding one. There isnt that huge of a diffrence in size between them and larger liter bikes. And yes there is a big diffrence between Cruisers and sport bikes. Learning on a cruiser is not to smart they are slow, and unresponsive. They also stop slower than an 18 wheeler. Go with a Ninja 250 and move up from there.
