Battery or Alternator?
Its 95 Teg LS. Hey guys, I was at the gas station and when i tried to start my car up, it wouldnt turn over. It would try but then everytime i cranked the power would go down and the lights would be dim. Luckily i was by a hill and I pushed it and popped it while in 3rd and it started right up and everything was running fine until I shut it off and the the same thing over again.
Would the problem be the battery or the alternator? If that would be only issue.
My brother sad I should get the car started and take off the positve wire off the battery and if the car dies its the alternator, if stays running the its the battery. What do you guys think?
PS-I have the Viper 791 alarm on my car and the last couple of days the remote would not transmit anything. i had to keep messin with the buttons to unlock or lock the car for it to work.

definitely the battery. if you have a volt meter, hook it up to the battery. is should read 12.6 while the car is off. after you start it, it should read 14.6. i hope you dont have to replace the alternator; i dont know about DCs but ive heard DA alternators are a huge pain in the ***
Your car uses the battery to start.
Once it's running, your alternator supplies power to the car.
Based on what I read in your post, I'd say it's your battery.
Drive your car to an auto parts store and take out your battery and have them test it - when it fails, buy a new battery.

but, if the alternators fucked, the battery will be shot. when the alt. went out on my dsm, i had to jumpstart the bitch twice to get it home. then, the battery was completely dead; the engine would shut off in less than a second after i took off the jumper cables lol.

Thanks guys, i'm hoping its just the battery, I'm really not looking spend a grip on an altenator. I'll definately check it out tomorrow.

Don't spend a grip. If you have to, buy a junkyard one off a newer model - I got mine for $50 (3 yrs newer too) - works fine. If it breaks, who cares, I can buy 5 more for the cost or a reman one.
If you do have to replace the alternator, don't listen to anyone that tells you to remove the axle to get it out.
