Default mph needle guage is acting weird! Some help please!

Hi guys! Today is the first time it ever occur and what happen is that while I was driving home from school, the mph needle didn't go up or down when I stepped in the gas or let it go. Let say I'm driving about 60 mph, and while driving, I let go of the gas pedal. I can feel the car is slowing down and rpm needle is also going down but not my mph needle. It will stay at 60 mph for about 15 seconds and it will just drop to whatever speed i'm in. In addition, if i hit the gas while the needle is at 60 mph, it will not go up right away. It will hesitate for about 15 secs and than it will just jump up to the max speed that I am driving. Can someone tell me what is wrong. BTW, it is fine now but I'm help for future reference.
thanks in advance

haha mines doin the same ****. its most likely a loose connection on the VSS vehicle speed sensor. unplug it from the tranny and you should be set. i would clean the connections free of any deposits and see wat happens haha i love drivin and its at 0 and shoots up to 80mph wen im don 30 and it wobbles around it wierd but i know one of the prongs on my vss was broken and i squeezed tin foil for a temp fiix. it worked for a year i guess its time for a new piece of ghetto tin foil.
