Default h23 timing Marks

alright, I have done a search on this and everything I find is for the h23 motor.

I have 92 lude si h23. I just finished rebuilding it, but I think I have the timing off. From what I have read is that there is no marks on the crank pulley(which I have noticed, very stupid), It is on the fly wheel, correct? How do I go about finding the timing marks on the fly wheel? And is the same for my car as the h22 is that I have to line up timming with a plus on the flywheel, the red one, while the cam gears are lined straight up?

Thanks, I am not use to working on ludes, I usually do civic's which are alot easier.

start your car let it warm up...jump your service connector... then theres a black plug inbetween your tranny and block on the front.. pull it out.. hook up a timing light, shine it in the hole...un bolt the distributor turn till its lined up at 15 deg. bolt it back down your all set

Why unbolt the distributor? What Line do I line up with to make sure the cam gears are in the up position?

don't mean to jack the thread but...when you guys line your red 15 mark up with the 2 markers on the tranny does it seem like the distributor is advanced forward an awful lot? when i line mine up where it should be it looks and sounds very advanced.

That is what I am trying to figure out also. Which mark? The white one or the red one? Then at that mark, which ever one, you have make sure your cam's are straight up, right?

ok you are talking about cam timming sorry we thought you meant ignition.
I know it sounds dumb but to make sure of tdc I just put an extension in the spark plug whole and spin it till it was at tdc and then I checked the marks on my flywheel. I am sorry I dont remember the exact postion.

Sorry, Yah I am needing cam timing not ignition. I have it currently lined up with the red mark on the fly wheel, But I dont think it is runing right still. It currently idled at 1500 when I started it up and then Idled down to about 800. But it sound's like it miss firing every little bit, it is not runing smooth. I dont have a timing gun to test it to see what it is at, but I can borrow one from a friend.

what does everybody time it off of? the red or the white? Also where do you find the clip where you have close the circuit on to adjust the ignition timing? I looked and could not find it.

Line it up with the white mark. You don't have to unbolt the dist., just loosen the
12mm bolts so you can easily adjust it.

The cam arrows should be pointing up while cam the
marks are flush with the bottom of the head.

i think you use the red mark if you have a non adjustable timing gun. if you use an adjustable one, you adjust it to 15 and then use the white mark.
