Default Cutting Your Bumpstops

I'm getting ready to install my neuspeed sport springs and tociko illuminas and was reading the instructions for the springs and it says to trim my rear bump stops 1.25". Should I cut from the bottom or top of the bumpstop and should I do the fronts as well even though it says to cut the rears? I have searched but have not found exactly what I need. Thanks guys.
