Timing belt change on 89 Prelude Si
I just picked up a used 89 Prelude Si 5sp for $350 that has a broken timing belt. I'm in the process of pulling the head to check for damage, and whether or not I should just change the whole motor. I'd prefer not to just yet if I can avoid it.
So once the head is serviceable and reinstalled, I'll need to install a new timing belt and properly time the motor. Does anybody have any tips on how to get the new belt on? Access to the right side (driver's side of the car) is very tight and I'm not sure how to do it short of pulling the motor.
Likewise, where are the timing marks on the crank pulley that need to point straight up?
Any info would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!
Rob

checkout the link below. i just bought a 90 prelude si for $100. the owner left the car in the yard of the owner's dads' rental property and moved to dallas. he was in the middle of a timing belt job and the main crank bolt broke and he had no time for it for 2 years. i got a steal.
