head swap trouble list....
I'm putting a Y8 head on my d15b2. Started it on sunday afternoon but hit a few little setbacks. Anyone else that did this swap let me know if you ran into the same problems.
1) Removing old gaskets sucks...
2) Y8 timing belt is way to tight for this setup. (just got a new d15 belt instead)
3) d15b2 plug wires will not work on the y8 head.
4) d15b2 lower timing cover does not mesh with the plastic shroud on the y8 head. had to do some trimming.
I realized #3 last night at 11:30 so I have yet to fire the car up. I hope the timing is right or I will be back to disassembling the *****.
If I could do it all over again, I would just swap the entire engine.

For the timing belt... I'm not 100% sure, but I think you need to use the y8 belt. Did you try to loosen it up with the belt tensioner?
Also for the plug wires. I think the vtec heads have them one the front while non vtec is on the back of the valve cover. I had to switch mine out. Just bought ngk pugs and wires.

The y8 belt with the tensioner completely loose I could not slide the belt onto the sprocket. It was tight. The b2 belt seems a tad loose.... I'll know tonight if it works or not.
Oh other thing I noticed, No coolant bleeder valve on the y8 head.

tell me you took out the oil jet.
You can use either y8 or a6 dizzy.
Use y8 plugs or z6 don't think it will matter
I think the bolt might actually be on the block near the exhaust manifold if not I was wrong

I swapped the coolant outlet from the b2 block to the y8 so that I would have the bleeder. Got it all back together and had an oil leak from where the head and block meet.... Guess it wasnt as clean as what I thought.
Taking it back apart tonight, I'll keep everyone posted...
