92 honda accord EX 200,000 miles rebuild engine.

Driving around town it drives fine.... get on the interstate and get up 70mph or so and drive for a few mins and it will shut off. tach goes to zero like you just turned the key off. everything in the car still works radio lights dash..........while still rolling you can click the key back to off...wait 5 seconds and crank the car right back up. it will keep doing this maybe 5 or 6 times during your trip untill it just makes up its mind to stop.

i can drive the car around town fine with no problems....but when you jump on the highway, watch out its doomed to turn off at any second!!!

it seems to be the distributor damn those things!!! honda's really seem to have alot of parts that break down!!!!!!!!!!! i was thinkign it was the main relay or ign swtich.

 

get a fuel pressure gauge, hook it up to the fuel filter ,,remove the 12mm bolt and hook the gauge there.route it so u can see it with hood closed, route it under wiper arm, go drive car when car starts acting up look at the pressure it should still be around 40 ...if it gets low u got a fuel problem if it stays up there then most likely u got an electrical problem ,,ignitor, coil, ign switch etc etc

 

i have the same damn problem... but my **** takes 5 minutes to start up

 

the distrib really was bad,


Newn you might have the main relay problem!
