trans question j1 ?
ok well i bought a b16a motor swap from hmo and i installed it and stuff it runs good. earlier i came across a fellow ht member(caged hatch) asking me what trans it has. i ran outside like a lil dork and looked 4 him and its a j1.
is there any advantages to the j1 or negs points. like is there bad 3rd gear grinds common or what. any one who has a j1 trans just leave what u think about it.
i also was wondering is there a order of best trans - least best trans 4 a stock b16 swap. eventually im boosting so then another order 4 boost(turbo)

I have a J1 and the gearing is really short. You can find the gear ratios of the different tranny's somewhere online to compare. At 80mph, I'm turning 4500RPM's! Acceleration is awesome though. LS 5th gear sounds like a good mod if you do a lot of highway driving.

yea at like 65mph im at 4000 rpm it uses so much fuel but im a city type driver i dont drive to much over 50.
well so the j1 is a good all motor trans correct and the ls would b a boost type trans
all im going to do is get another exhaust and get ctr or itr cams i havnt really looked into what works yet but just a mild thing nothing wild or crazzy. so would this trans work for what i want

I like my J1 tranny, the only bad thing is that you have a low top speed! For example at redline (7,200 for me) in 5th gear I only manage about 120 mph 
but it sure is fun getting there

its its like the zc? cause i have a zc right now on my ef with a z6 motor and i love it....85mph and almost redlighting...

cool so i should keep this trans if im maken only small power changes i already have a vtec controler and intake and exhaust so its like a nice motor and i kinda like the trans being so quick through the gears it makes 0-60 way fast. well compaired to the d15b2 i was running
