IPS - Scott Mansell to Race Road-Course Rounds
Written by: RACER staff

Scott Mansell, the 19-year-old son of former Formula 1 and CART champion Nigel Mansell, will make his Infiniti Pro Series debut on the two remaining road-course events of the 2005 season.
The Birmingham, United Kingdom native will drive the No. 22 Dave McMillan Racing Dallara/Infiniti at Sonoma (August 28) and Watkins Glen (September 25). The youngster will partner another teenager with a famous last name, Marco Andretti, as McMillan also runs Andretti Green Racing’s IPS program.
“I am really happy to have been given this opportunity, and I am really looking forward to racing in the USA with Marco,” said Mansell. “I was really impressed with the Dave McMillan racing team at the recent
shakedown test, and I am relishing the prospect of racing against competitors in equal machinery.”
Mansell is the reigning EuroBOSS champion, a series that runs on the UK utilizing "retired" Formula 1 cars - Mansell’s title-winning machine had close ties to the Benetton B194 that Michael Schumacher drove to the 1994 F1 championship. His last competitive outing came in an Italian F3000 race back in May.
“I think Scott will be very, very tough,” said McMillan, a New Zealander who won the 1982 Toyota Atlantic title before becoming an engineer. “Scott went to Michigan [on July 31] to watch the IndyCar Series and got a taste for it.”

What's wrong, maybe its a step in the wrong direction for Kid Mansell. Shouldn't he be in F3000 or F3 back in Europe. Infiniti Pro series is not the next rung on the ladder for a super-quick 19 year old.
Scott Mansell is not related to Nigel Mansell. Everyone, including those in the UK confuse him with the F1 legend. Scott's dad's name is Kevin and they bear no relationship to Nigel.

We have a winner!!! (it doesn't surprise me that someone with a Wurz helmet would know the answer)
Also, Mansell drove a B197 in BOSS...but I guess they can refer to the B194 since the B197 can be considered a descendant.

Well, good seat time at 2 of North America's premier road courses isn't what I'd call a bad gig. The way I read it it's only a 2 race deal, perhaps to get time on tracks he's never been to before?? They make no mention of any 2006 commitment. Experience and seat time for a 19 year old kid are rarely ever a step in the wrong direction.

I emailed speedtv.com a few minutes after that article appeared yesterday. I checked this morning and they removed the references to Nigel Mansell and Michael Schumacher's B194. Instead, the article states that Mansell's EuroBOSS car has close ties to the B197s of Alesi and Wurz.
I'm sure I wasn't the only one to email them about the discrepancies.
Here's the revised article:
