89 accord oil leak
I recently bought a 89 accord that has a pretty bad oil leak that I thought was comming from under the timing cover. I replaced the front crank and cam seals and put a new oil pan gasket on it but it didn't help. After looking things over again it looks like its might be leaking from the front of the oil pan, it don't look like its sealing on the curved part. Has anyone else had to replace an oil pan to fix a leak? Thanks

did u apply and sealer on the curved part??? preferably honda-bond???
if not u need to apply a small amount of that ,,if u did ... Another possible explanation is you could have over tighten the bolts+ nuts...Or sometimes where the studs are at the corners , on the gasket there are metal rings and at times they will come off gasket and stay on the block, if they were left there u cannot properly tighten pan thus it will leak,,,If u have the old gasket look to see if there are those metal rings still in it ..

I did put a sealer on the pan side of the gasket, although the manual says to only put a sealer on the 4 cornoers. It looks like the curved part of the oilpan is not being pulled up tight enought to make a good seal. I'm thinking about a new oilpan.

make sure you did not leave those metal rings on the block if they are there the pan will not tighten properly and will leak ....also put sealer on both side of the gasket ....also make sure gasket did not slip on you and it is misaligned

My 89 Accord lxi is also leaking oil. I first thought it was the oil pan so I re-torqued all bolts and cleaned up the mess. I then discovered that the oil was running down the breather tube that comes out of the oil pan and migrates all over the oil pan. This tube has a rubber hose about 5 in. long attached to it and connects to something that I have not identified yet. Needless to say I have not yet found the source of my leak. BR Love
