Problems After Lowering on TEIN S-Tech Springs CD5
So I lowered my 94 Accord on TEIN S-Tech Springs and bought camber kits for the front and back. I am using 215-45-17 tires on front and 225-45-17 tires back. After getting the car back from the alignment shop my upper control arm where the ball joint is rubbing the inside lip up inside the fender well pretty good on the drivers side. It sounds HORIBLE going down the road going over bumps and such. I bent it out with a hammer for now so I can drive the car, it still rubs a little over big bumps.
Anyone else have this problem??

I don't think its anything to do with the struts, its like the upper control arm doesn't have enought travel room
This is a topic which has come up here and in other forums time and time again.

superhonda.com etc.
You are correct, it has nothing to do with the struts. It has everything to do with suspension geometry and the amount of room inside the wheel well.
Generally 5th gen's don't do well with radical drops. Concensus puts it at about 2.5 to 3.0 inches max. Much more than that has opened up the door for ball joint, strut and bushing failure.
Surgury may get you the room you need, or you may have to give back some of that drop.

The springs are only a 1.9 in drop in the front. I dunno, it looks like I have another evening with a grinder, torche and misc hammers ahead of me again. Not rubbing much anymore except when I go over something like a dip in the road. I bent it back some last night. It's werid cuz its only the drivers side.
My show G2 Integra is lowered 3.5 in and never had this problem.

Glad to do it anytime.
It's very frustrating sometimes, when you anticipate a project, that dispite the power of the internet; you still have to dig for tips and information about what others have run into previously.
Thats' why you'll catch guys like deserthonda and myself thanking people for posting their 'fix", That way we can share the success stories, and spare some poor soul an afternoon of &^%)$# !!

This is a common problem with slammed accords and adjustable upper c/a's. What we did was bend the end of the uca's to clear.
You problem sounds like you have too much correction on your camber kits. What I would do is back off you camber and grind down the ends of the upper control arm to give you a little more clearance.
are camber kits even necessary with s-techs? just wondering because i put some on my 95 and it looked completly stock i dont think it lowered it whatsoever...

You put them on wrong or soemthing then. They do make a difference. The Htechs might not but the S-techs sure do lower your car quite a bit.
Thank god SPC has UCA's for the 6th gens, then again I would be riding so low.

Had this problew with an H&R sport drop, your camber kits adjust for the negative camber by pushing out the upper control arm.....that's why it rubs man. I had to do a little clearancing to account for the new alignment, all good now.

You need a camber kit with any drop if you want good tire wear atleast in all my experiences. I drive my Accord ALOT cuz its my daily driver and I work in a different county then I live in so I need my tires set as perfect as possible, I was going through a set of tires a year on my daily driver G2 Integra I had before with no camber kit.
A very reiable shop did the alignment, they do a decent amount of alignment work on lowered cars as well.
S-Techs lower the front about 1.9 in the front and around 1.5 in the back.
EVERYTHNG is installed correctly, I installed everything myself and I took a span of 3 days and took my time to lower the car so I made sure everything was correctly installed and positioned. I have lowered many cars in the past.
I am going to do some more cutting and bending this weekend, the problems not too bad now so it should get me through til then. On my carfax report there was a front end accident on the car, maybe that as something to do with it? I will keep everyone updated.
