There has been many threads lately about these engines, just wanted to see how many people have it and what do they think about it for future reference. On my personal opinion, I must say that this little single cammer has some ****** *****....It's been very reliable... Totally reccomend it!

with only intake

shifted from 6500 from 2nd to 1st on friday and still didnt bend anything

i need a short shifter!

what about the DOHC ZC non vtec? what do you think about those I just bought one and im going to start installing it tommorow

 

I used to have one on my old 4 door. It felt quicker than the D15B vtec I have in my new 4 door. Lots of torque and pulled hard all the way to 7k. My best time was a 16.6 at 2700ft above sea level (LA County Raceway).

 

i just swapped a sohc zc into my hf, and i love it. i have to do a little tuning, and it seems as soon as i fix one thing, something else happens, but once i get it all ironed out, im gonna take it to the track and see what i can get. i've got a zc intake and tb(its huge) zc header, cai, dx tranny, and 2" exhaust running to a flowmaster axle-back with no cat. converter. my mpg went to ****(im burnin reallllly rich) but damn this thing is peppy. im gonna give it a bottle too. i think i'm hittin 15's, and my brother( drives a mid 12's mustang) says he thinks im hittin mid 14's, but thats all speculation. anyway, i love it. bone stock, i could outrun my hf in my 87 fullsize bronco, probably with the plow too. lol

 

i had a turbo sohc zc in my crx. made 175hp and 150tq at 7psi. pretty strong motor. i should of kept that car.

 

had the sohc non vtec zc in my crx. great motor. pulled awesome for a sohc.

 

i love it ,got it in my si, passes smog and is pretty quick

 

Helping someone out who has one of these in their CRX. Havn't really looked into these before.

Where can I find the specs on the sohc ZC? (rod length,CR,etc)
Hard to search with search not allowing 2 character words.

Have heard its similar to the d16a6, is this true? or is it just the same as DOHC ZC minus the cam?

THanks</TD></TR></TABLE>it is IDENTICAL to teh a6 except the cam. when you are looking for aftermarket parts look for a6 parts. the cams are interchangeable, but the sohc zc is a bit more aggressive

 

i got a sohc zc, my car ran 15.8's at fontana 1/4 mile. bone stock just intake and exhaust, but the engine was rebuilt but not performance wise.

 

i have a SOHC ZC project in the making =]

i just recently bought a crx sporting the sohc zc... runs well and pulls pretty good. I got a couple of things to straighten out but everything looks promising..

none of the above is bone stock but like i posted is not a QM track?

 

I like it. Bigger cam, higher compression than D16A6, but no VTEC so it's time for a mini me.

It pulls hard in the mid range for a stock motor, but falls flat in the top end where I'm used to hearing the VTEC scream. Few people realize that VTEC engines are also better in the low RPMs than their non VTEC equivalents.

 

i love mine, has taken tons of abuse for about 2 years and never had a problem. its got worn rings so im building it before i put my turbo setup on. plan on running a t3 super60 with all the goodies and tuned via neptune @ titan motorsports

my personal goal is 250+whp

 

I love my SOHC ZC. ******' sweet! Never had any problems other than sensors ******* up, but that always happens with swaps.. I have a rebuilt Y8 head, virgin P28, all the gaskets and t. belt sitting in my room. I just need an OBD-1 conversion harness and I'm ready to go.

 

The sohc zc non vtec. Is that the one that comes carbeurated I think?

 

my zc in my ef is amazing i couldent ask for a better stock motor, it screams after 4k all the way 7k, i recently raced a 89 5.0 mustang and i raped him... i love it. well project turbo zc coming soon, anyone wanna help ?
