Default Factory 94-97 EX Muffler

Will an OEM EX muffler fit onto an OEM LX exhaust system?

This would be the muffler with the dual outlet and chrome tips.

I'd like to replace mine LX model with an EX muffler.

Also, does anyone in the DFW area have one in good shape sitting around that they would like to part with? I've got a 96 LX.

Thanks!

Does anyone know if there is any kind of warranty on the factory muffler?

My Accord has 56k miles and has been in Texas all its life.

It's starting to rust out on the bottom of the muffler. Seems odd since there isn't a speck of rust anywhere else on the car or the exhaust system.

I guess the condensation inside must mess them up.

Does anyone have a clean 94-97 OEM muffler with the dual outlets and chrome tips that they would like to sell? I need a rust free unit in great shape.

I'm assuming that there are a lot of these sitting around in garges with all of the aftermarket exhausts I see on the road. Or, maybe folks chuck em'

Thanks!

I threw mine away when I put my magnaflow cat-back on. The stock one was completley rusted after 10 years driving through ther dreadful winters...You might be better off looking for a setup close to oem. It hard to find a stock system thats in decent shape.

BTW 2dr and 4dr are the same as well. I just picked a 4 door LX axle back up for my 2 door and it fits perfect.

I would go and check out some local junkyards, that is where I got mine at and they don't ask alot for them. I got mine at All Import in Fort Worth. They are always getting 94-97 Accords in. Call and ask for Adam and he will help you out, tell him you know Dave.

I need to replace mine as well. If I take it to any little place or Midasize it or whatever, will I still have the dual tips? Not that it really matters, but I think they look cool as hell and want to keep them.

Honestly I am a family friend and I get the family discount. I would guess that they would charge anywhere between 25-50 but I am just guessing on that one.

i junked mine when i got my aftermarket since it had holes in it and the tips where perpetually coming loose and falling off. Once you get yours you might want to check the tips alot to make sure they aren't starting to fall off. Almost everyone i know with a 5th gen ex has lost a tip.

you might have the single tip because its not a factory muffler. meineke or someplace might have put that single tip on because the customer wanted to save money.

you'd have to find one from the westcoast.

My Ex muffler is in perfect shape after 11 years + 171k miles.

I'm about to replace my exhaust cat-back. B-pipe is rusting out. The muffler seems to be alright though. Both tips and all.

Decided to call around and get pricing on a new OEM muffler. B&B Muffler in Carrollton qouted me $78 to replace the muffler with an OEM style dual outlet muffler. I decided to go ahead and go this route since it was so cheap. I ended up painting the muffler flat black with some BBQ grill spray paint and I threw on a couple of $4.99 chrome tips from Pep Boys. Here are a few pics of the muffler.

I thought overall it turned out pretty nice for $100. Now my LX thinks it's an EX...minus the sunroof, rear sway bar and VTEC...he he.
