I know I have a litel exhaust leak cause my headers downs pipe donut as some play....could this minar leak give me troubles at idol where if the engine is warm, the idle surges a bit from 1000 tp900 rpms with a light engine sound and the come down to 700 rpms after coming to a stop ??? ( if I give it a bit of gaz she comes down right away!)

Anyways Ill give it a try from what I can make out you have a leak at the end of you header. Would the bolts around there need to be tightened or perhaps just need the gasket replaced, or is some part of the metal around there (b-pipe, header, cat if you have one) rusted out?

Where my headers connect to the cat, I have a custom flange cause I can't fit the proper size donut (2 1/4") so there is a leak ( confirm by 2 mechanics ) I'm just wondering if going to a bigger headers that would match my cat back, if that would fix my idle???

As far as the custom flange, is it weleded onto the cat or the header? I am assuming the cat has the custom flange on it and your header's flange is too small to match up. One thing to do might be to have a different (correct sized) flange welded onto your existing header if that is possible. Then you would not need to spend money on a new header. If you want a new header anyways then just get one that will match up. If the doughnut inside is also part of the problem get a new one of those with flanges that all match up and you should be good.

As far as this being the problem for the messed up idle I am not sure. From your original post I gather that the idle is around 1000 and sometimes around 650-700. To me this does not seem all that unordinary but maybe someone else will be able to help with that.

 

Thanks man!! Ya we can't weld the proper size flang and I'm always going to get a leak!!! I'm wondering witch headers down pipe will match up ( My cat back is a custom 2 1/4")

For the idle, I'm just wondering if a leak could make the idle take some more time to get dwon to it's normal state ???

an exhaust leak shouldnt affect your idle. there must be another problem if you having problems with you idle. Check for a vaccuum leak!? .....

 

I've got a vacuum leak right now (My BOV is a POS & the rubber inside is cut) and that makes my idle higher.

Try cleaning your IACV with some carb cleaner. My idle would fluctuate up and down, I cleaned the IACV w/ carb cleaner and the problem went away.
