Default Who here plans to stick with bolt ons, and nothing more..?

I was just curious out of all the Type R owners, who planned to only go as far as bolt ons for their Rs? I was seriously considering getting cams and pistons, but I don't think it really is worth it..

bolt ons for a while....may do a flywheel, FD this summer, but i'll probably wait till i'm out of warranty. ultimately i may do a Hondata/JRSC motor...but no time soon as all my income is spend on bacardi 151 and food.

or you could have gotten a DSM or some other turbo and saved yourself a lot of trouble. If all i wanted was a car to "Play with the big boys" i definately would not have gotten a Type R....just my opinion

I keep telling myself I will only do bolt ons, but this is mainly due to the fact that I am in college so it's not like I have the temptation to spend money on more mods cause I got no money.

However, I bet once I am out of school that the first thing I do is buy some spec C's and get the head ported and polished

Bolt ons until warranty is gone. Even then I may just stick with bolt ons and save up for something else..... Maybe a 4.0 wrangler 5 spd.

A good place to spend your money on the type R is suspension. Although the stock suspension is very impresive. With out major engine work the type R is never going to be a fast car.

yeah Rob is right...buying a Type-R for "street cred" is just dumb. There are tons of cars (Mustangs, DSMs, Camaros, Supras) that can go way faster than the R for way less $$, it's just that people think the Integra is cooler. Why? Maybe because it gets stolen more?

to the original question - the most I will do is header/cat/exhaust, VAFC/tuning + FPR, clutch/flywheel, and an agressive suspension. With proper tuning, you can hit whp figures in the 190's with just those mods. turbo is for drag racers, JRSC is for suckers, and nitrous is for rich morons. Sorry to anyone I've just offended.

The most I would do are bolt ons for now and maybe some cam sprockets to maximize the potential of the R cams.

I rather to master my skills learning to drive my R better just like it is right now.

I know by fact that the suspension of the R is very good on the road course and I can say the same about the brake system (with some good race pads), engine and drivetrain components. For a beginner it is just more than enough....

I know a lot of people who have spent a good deal of money in moding the engine, suspension, brakes and transmission and never been to a track session

Thanks for the help Ross, yeah, I think I am gonna do the same as your plans, just bolt ons and cam gears, etc. I want to get into road racing, and I think 190swhp is fast enough..

I just love your subtle quotes like the one above... ahahah Ross

Chris, glad you like my quote I'm also glad to see that you're going to use your car for something besides going straight and getting girls...you're going to learn a lot.

I WAS just going for bolt ons a year ago but then I got addicted. Nothing major but a step further than bolt ons.

I've changed my mind so many times about this. From what I seem to gather, if you want to get much out of the cam gear change, pistons are a must. So far its just bolt-ons for me. The only things left I am considering is suspension and possible flywheel and ATS. Then I think I'll be done....I've said that before.

I actually took my AEM off the other day.

I had an AEM and TEIN Type HA's and got tired of the noise of the AEM with the little to no power gain.

I did a dyno test of Stock vs K&N drop in vs AEM.
I got 167 vs 168 vs 170

Just not worth it without the rest. THe suspension was the best part.

Trey

There was a post a while back...some dude had a Comptech Icebox, header (forget which kind) catco cat, and custom 2.5" cat-back exhaust. He also had a FPR, and a VAFC with some extensive tuning.
