Hey, so pretty much every auction on ebay for the f2/f3 fairings say they are interchangable. so looking and getting impatient(i've been riding without upper fairings and windshield for over a month) i bought an f3 upper fairing even though i have an f2. well after inspecting(since its supposed to come today) the picture, it has some differences. so will this still fit right and just look a little differnt or just not fit at all? and my other question is, is the f2 and f3 headlight the same? let me know. thanks

I know people do interchange them, heck i have seen poeple put f4i plastics on a
f2. I would assume they would bolt right up, but you may need to do some minor fabrication at the most. Good luck

I love the rears on the 98 f3s, random i know.

 

I don't think the F3 fairings can be mixed with F2 fairings. If you have an F3 upper only, you'll need to get the lowers/sides.

Not sure about the headlight, though...

Ok so since I have built some f2/f3 mutts I can tell you.

No the f2 upper will not work with an f3 lower or f3 headlight. Look at the bottom edge of the f2 fairing. You will notice the edge before the fairing inspection panel is alot longer than the f3 one. Also the inspection door is larger on the f3.

And the headlight is different between the f2 and f3.

If you put f3 fairings on an f2 you have to change the fairing stay, headlight , lowers and inspection doors.

Steven </TD></TR></TABLE> true to everything but 1 on the above, when i put '96 F3 fairings on my '92 F2, i didnt change my fairing stay. it mounted perfectly. i did however have to get a F3 headlight. its more pointed at the edges. a F2 headlight will mount up, it will jsut have a gap between the headlight and fairings. (i had to replace my headlight after wrecking) but the headlight i got off ebay was for a F2 so this is how i know. i still used my guage cluster from my F2 in my F3 body change as well. so in short. all new plastics (except the tail section will fit as well) and a headlight to to the conversion,
