Default smog check help.. failed :( UPDATE

95 honda delsol si.. 142k miles.. recently did tune up ( adjusted timing, spark plugs, rotor and cap, oil change, pvc valve )

took it to the smoke check station today and failed..

any ideas what it could be? i know there can be tons but what could i do myself to bring those numbers down...

since it was a only test station the guy couldnt find out what it was.. but he mentioned that it could be the o2 sensor. UPDATE ... i dont get an o2 code.. i get code 43...but thats only when im coasting on the freeway about 55 m/h in 4rth gear( turns off if i turn off the car and then start it up again and it wont come up on till again i get on the freeway and coast at the speed mentioned)

UPDATE .. i reset the ecu (by taking out the fuse for a couple o fminutes) and so far (5 tmies on the freeway) no cell so far.. any ideas why??

any ideas would be apreciated...

There's your problem. Doesn't matter if the code goes away, the fact that it keeps coming back should be a sign. Get a new one!

Yes, I passed smog with a bosch $12 deal and a 12 year old cat. Looked like a fine sensor.

A cat would help only if your cat wasn't working properly as in it was clogged, has holes in it, or you somehow burned the damn thing because just 1 spark plug didn't work. lol. raw fuel dumped into the cat = burn and destruction.

i think the o2 sensor would help. why not just listen to the engine? if it says it was wrong before why wouldn't it be wrong now. clearly theres something wrong with it? well good luck buddy. latez.

Get a fuel pressure regulator. I spent hundreds of dollars on a cat and other stuff last year and failed miserably still. I got a fuel pressure regulator and have no problems now. When you go to smog, turn it down, and then when you leave, just turn it back up. it works every time

I have an AEM regulator with a B&M guage. Stock is supposed to sit at 41, but for emissions, you can turn it down to about 20 and still have it idol to be tested. just don't smash on the gas while you have it turned down. It will not go anywhere. I hope that helps

it regulates the amount of fuel pressure going to the engine. I used to fail the Hydrocarbons, among other things, by about 400 (really bad) and I got it to pass the first try with the regulator. I am not the only one who uses this. Everyone else i know has done the same thing and was able to pass.

Just screw the cat...i spent all kinds of money on a new one and still failed. The fule pressure regulator will dot he job, trust me. We have been fighting with emissions here for years, and it is just so much easier to get the regulator.

Your numbers are really low compared to mine. You will be able to pass it easily if you get the regulator
