piston slap, does it get worse?
I have been told by honda mechanics and friends that I have piston slap in my stock Jdm h22a, as every morning upon start up I get a rattle noise. Anyway I was told by a honda mechanic that as long as I have the correct amount of oil in the engine this will not get worse. Is this true?
It has been getting louder over the past couple months, I don't have money to rebuild or buy a new motor so, hopefully this motor will last for a couple more months.
thanks
Mike

Do you know the piston to wall clearance when the motor was built? After warm up the slap is gone correct? The only way to tell if you have too much cleaance is to measure piston to wall clearance. Should be within spec to the piston manufature. If there is too much clearance compression can be lost and power will not be optimum.
I bought the whole car with swap from member, so I would have no idea of the clearence but I would imagine stock.
I think I may have to tear it down, don't really have the cash, but if I go any longer I think I could damage it moreso. We will see i guess.
Maybe i will jsut drive the thing till it blows up, who knows.
thanks for the help.
