Polishing/chroming
Has anyone had their bike polished/chromed? I'm seriously considering selling my bike and buying something that has been down for a project. I would get everything polished/chromed and custom paint the bike a single solid color, preferably a blue.
I have chrome rims on my f3 and I have all the footpegs and triple clamp polished.
All I can say is if you do polish a bunch of the aluminum parts, be prepared to repolish them every week or so.
If not the aluminum will oxidize and look like azz.
Also for chrome, if you aren't planning on keeping it for too long it is ok. I have had my set of chrome rims for about 5 yrs now. (Yeah I had em before the big fad hit....)
Anyways, after a while they will start to pit and the chrome will lift/flake off.
I have seen a few buddies rims look worse than mine after less than one year of use and mine has 5 going on 6 yrs....
After having both I will stick with painted/powdercoated pieces.

Thanks for the input. I figured polishing was the way to go. My bike stays in a garage and I clean after almost every ride so I figured the finish would last a long time if I take care of it.
I have my wheels polished

To be honest with you, i will NEVER EVER chrome ANYTHING ever again...
I spend about 3-5 hours a WEEK polishing my stupid wheels cause they look like crap if you don't like CBRman says....I didn't buy my bike to be a showbike, i bought it and did it up to look good but spend more time riding than cleaning, which i do, which is why alot of the time my rims are dirty as hell, cause a bike is ment to be ridden, not washed twice a day...
It looks awesome when its clean, and it will probably help me sell the bike, but i will never chrome my wheels or any MAJOR part of my bike again, from here on, its carbon fiber time....
