Default Ls running like a single

Can anyone help me out? I have a 96 Ls with intake, 2 and 1/2 catback exhaust and a short shifter. My car was running great for about a month then i started to hear a knocking or ticking noise under the hood, so i figured it was a valve tick so i got them adjusted but after about 20 mins they started again now im loosing to stock single vtec's by 2 or more cars i was wondering wat should i do or wat could be the problem please give me some feeback

Thats a plae to start, and if thats not it at least you know that it has had a tune up. Also could be your timeing, check that as well. or even you throttle cable, make sure its tight, and that you are getting full throttle.

Hmmmm.....have you taken apart the valve train to look inside? Checked out other internals? Sensors maybe? Though it wasn't mentioned, have you tried running the car at idle with the hood open and trying to figure out exactly where the ticking was coming from? That's where I'd begin the troubleshooting process.

Personally, I wouldn't judge my engine's performance by how far you're winning or losing street races. There are waaaaayy too many variables there. For all you know that guy could've drank 5 red bulls right before

Unless you feel confortable tearing things apart on your car, I would start by taking it to a mechanic

Check to see if your cam timing jumped a tooth on the belt. It can make your car run like *** and your valve train will be noisey.
