Default obd1 conversion from obd0 what distributor? for a d16a6 motor.

I have a d16a6 and I need to buy a distributor from an odb1 d series. What one do i get? Does it have to be a 1.6 liter, or can it be a 1.5, does it have to be vtec, or will the non vtec work fine? Will a non vtec distributor work in a VTEC d series head, or are there some VTEC stuff in there that makes VTEC work, or is it just the housing that avoids contact with the vtec solenoid?

HELP ME. I've got the conversion harness on the way, and 4 wire O2 sensor, and hondata s300 with p28 ecu, just have no idea about the distributor.

Muchas Gracias Amigos

If it's a non-VTEC motor, use a non-VTEC dizzy.
If it's a VTEC motor, use a VTEC dizzy.

The actual operation of the dizzy is the same, but an incorrect dizzy doesn't mount correctly and is hard to time properly when you do mount it.

1996-00 D16Y8. Exactly the same as the OBD-I D16Z6, and bolts right on to your A6 head

Can anybody else verify that Mr. S is correct that the y8 distributor will bolt right up to my d16a6 head?

Correction I misread Mr. S's post.

Okay, well I remember seeing that on the mini me swap you wanna use the y8 head cuz the a6 dizzy bolts right on, that would lead me to believe that the y8 dizzy should bolt right onto the a6 head as well, and confirm MR. S.

HOWEVER, i've gotten a few PM's from people saying the y8 won't work and doesn't line up. Anybody else other then Mr. S. know for sure what works or doesn't work? Did the obd1 swap on their own d16a6?

I have a d16z6 with 126,000 miles on it for sale, less trans and wiring harness otherwise complete for $350. It came out of my 95 si hatch and i took it out only 3 days ago. anyone interested? Its got a z6 dizzy on it. You could use that if you like as well as the head and sell the rest. Just an option.

A 92-95 lx/dx dist or a y8 dist will work. Both bolt up to the a6 head.
