Default Engine Swap for 87 CRX

What is the biggest and best engine I can get and put in an 87' CRX?

Lets just keep the price reasonable say somewhere around 5000 more or less unless there is something really good for more.

5000 you could do a H22 if you did the work yourself.


or a B series with some motor work.

Is the car carbeureted or fuel injected?If it is carberueted I would go alonq with what illcrxsi1 said and buy a 2nd gen then buy a b16 for it

check hasport.com for their mount kit selections...

uh no. If you are putting a b-series in there then yes you will need a mount kit. Ohterwise when you put a d16a1 in it it drops in with the use of integra and crx mounts. I forget off the top of my head which ones you want to use.

Go with a 88-89 d16a1. 118hp. Its electronic advance for ignition. Where a 86-87 is vacuum.

In order to get the 88-89 to work it will take some wiring work. But then again if you have a Carburated engine it will take a whole lot of wiring .

Right now I am on the lookout for 84-85 CRX Fuel Injected. Nicer looking I think with the recessed headlights.
