Default Track Brakes...

Okay guys in getting ready for the Expo I want to make sure that my brakes are up to pair and ready to rock on the track. I have the Hawk HP+ pads(f/r) Goodridge Stainless lines, and some ATE brake fluid. Now my question is with the rotors. I do not plan to run the Hawk pads on the street because of massive amounts of brake dust so should I have track set of rotors also so that they do not need to be seated everytime I plan on going to the track? Also there was a post on some light weight two peice brake rotors that I read a while back and now I cant find it using the high tech search engine that we have anyone know what rotors were suggested on there?

I don't swap pads once I get to the rack, but I'm sure you could run the HP+ once you got to the motel before the event, and then swap the stock (or other) ones back once the event is over.

FWIW -- I've been running R4 pads f/r the whole time since before the last Expo, and just put in a fresh set of fronts (on cryo'd rotors).

So if somebody was going to use a set of rotors for track events only what type of rotors would you suggest? Slotted, C/D, Slotted & C/D, or just normal rotors?

I think that I will run the pads from Nebraska to Michigan and back again but then put the factory pads and rotors back on once I get home and clean the crap out of my wheels and the car...

Sounds like a plan. Should do fine!

I put in a fresh set of front R4's Thursday, and bedded them in on the way to the track on Friday.
They'll be on there till I finally decide to try some "Carbotech's".

I think even folks who switch bank and forth to track pads for track use don't normally switch rotors. At least, not the folks that I've run into.

IOW - just use the same rotors you came with. They'll do fine.

Nate - stick to the stock rotors...it doesn't take much to bed the pads. Wait til you get some more track time before doing more brake upgrades than what you have (I don't want you to out do me after all )

I look at it the other way. Since I'm changing the pads, I figure I might as well change the rotors as well. I just use a separate set of OEM brembos for my Panther+ pads. That way, I don't have to worry about sanding the pad material off the rotor and stuff when I change pads.
