Perhaps some more information, like what you're actually looking to accomplish with this car.

research > you

if you just want an increase in power, and plan on driving the car daily, then supercharge it. if you plan on racing it alot, and have tons of money to throw at the car, then go turbo. you will have much more potential with a turbo kit

Don't listen to this H-T nut swinger.

Supercharger is a constant flow of power depending on certain amount of throttle, where as the turbo turns on at a certain RPM. Superchargers are more for lower RPM cars, turbos are for higher RPM cars. Just a small amount of info, should check out the FAQs and read up on some sites.

So in a way you could get better gas mileage with a turbo?

lol I suppose, you're going to be wasting a lot of gas anyway.

And dont listen to the idiots that are talking about supercharging, its going to end up costing you just as much as a turbo in the end.

I love how you talk about supercharger being street and turbo being race...ahha, a turbo can be built to be a very reliable daily driver.

Turbo dude. Research.

Well, if you're still confused you're better off not getting either one. Forced induction requires more maintenance then you're stock set-up, so it helps if you have some understanding of the system (turbo or supercharger).

What kind of budget do you have?

The turbocharged route would have much more potential than going with a supercharger. You can try reading up on it to find out the tradeoffs, but I've experienced a few turbo DC2s and they were definitely awesome.

to me it sounds like your best bet is to try and find a local tuner and see what they are familiar with. Having a knowledged and experience person helping you face to face witrh your exact car and your exact situation will be essential for your learning and success.

This question would be better asked in the FI forum, but there's already so much information in there, no need to ask at all. Just read, read some more, and then read some more.

Neither solution should effect mileage while cruising, only when you're boosting. The supercharger spins freely when the gas pedal isn't on the floor, so no real loss. The turbo will always create a little backpressure, but nothing worth worrying about.

First question I would worry about is, do you need to stay smog legal? I have yet to find a turbo kit that is smog legal, and I don't count the greddy kit because the intercooler isn't legal, just the trubo.

A supercharger, specifically the Jackson Racing one, will provide boost down low. Its also a "bolt on" kit. If you're looking for quick on-off-on throttle response, you might want to investiage this route. Its also smog legal. The Vortech supercharger is more like the compressor side of a turbo, so you won't have the low end boost. I have no idea about legality on this one.

A turbo would be more felxible, but will be a more intensive install. you'll have to tap the oil pan for the return hose, possible tapping coolant lines as well if its a water cooled turbo. You'll have to swap manifolds, possibly get a downpipe made up, install the intercooler (cutting bumper if necessary), and deal with the extra fuel delivery. A big turbo won't spool early, but will give massive power in the upper band. A small turbo will spool up sooner, but won't deliver the power numbers. Personal preference and budget would be determining factors.

I think you'll find the overall responses to be in favor of a turbo, because you will probably get more power for the dollar. But, in the end, its your car, and you need to decide what it is exactly that you want from it, are willing to do to it, and how much you can afford to spend.

Now go read the entire FI forum.

Keep your current compression.

Find a GOOD reputable tuner.

Start collecting turbo parts.
For one, choose this turbo:
GT28R.

It will be quite responsive. Almost like a supercharger.

You should have a budget between $2500-4000 including tuning sessions.

For manifolds and what not, there are tons to pick from.
Please visit the F/I forum and learn. This way, it's better for you to learn; also so you know what's good for you.

Research is the key my friend. You can only be spoon fed information (contact Tony the Tiger - for his responsive turbo setup) until **** don't make sense to you anymore.
