Default Proud New Owner of a new 2005 LX coupe needs some advice

To start off... I know absolutely nothing about performance mods. I've read up some about some ECU's that increase the fuel to air ratio in my cylinders, and how exhausts and air intakes help the air flow that also increase HP. But other then that, I'm clueless.

I got the 4 cylinder because of monetary issues, and I'm kicking my self in the *** wishing I went for the 6. So now I'm posed with this question: how much more money can I throw into this car to make it faster?

I don't really wanna spend much money... ideally 200$ tops... and I'm looking for about a 20hp gain. As I mentioned I don't know diddley squat about this kind of stuff, so this might be completely unreasonable.

I'd love to get some advice though. What do you guys think?

P.S. - I tried reading through the guide, but I've been so busy with work and the girlfriend I have absolutely no time to do some hardcore research, but I do have time to order stuff :-)

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Okay... well what do you guys reccomend on a 200$ budget?

Also... do the cheaper cold air intakes work just as well as the more expensive AEM's? I found a AEM cold air for my 2005 4cyl coupe on ebay... but then when I did a google search on the part # (AEM 21-511) it's coming up as 2003-2004. So does anyone know of a relatively cheap intake system that performs just as well as the AEM? Or is it worth spending the extra money on the AEM?

Anyone know of any 'el cheapo' intakes for a 2005 accord 4 cyl? No luck on ebay. Plus, will the AEM give me better performance or is the extra price all in the name?

I was also thinking about getting one of those chips that change the fuel:air ration... does anyone reccomend a certain one for a 2005 4 cyl coupe? It's possible to get one that doesnt actually flash the ecu and only works while its connected correct? Thanks for all your help so far.

shadowridge: couple questions about the sri... how much did you pay for it, whered u get it, and did u notice better performance after it was installed?

sounds better, i also got more low end when the tranny downshifted, but high end dropt a bit, but then again my ecu is modded so it meight not be the same for your car(most likey the other a way for other cars). but if your drive it like a granny you would save like a mile or 2 on mpg. that comes a long way with todays prices. I got mines in a shop in houston area for 140, took forever to get it in cuz red was sold out..hah
