Default The Last Stand[56k, write a novel]

Okay, It started when a friend gave me a call saying he had found me a Hatch. I had a clean 91 CRX Si with a DOHCZC swap. I loved that f^dging car, put more money into that thing than I ever spent on my gf. Well, the deal with the hatch was that is was COMPLETELY stock, but the motor and trans were beat. My CRX had a lame body kit [ previous owners decision ] and was salvaged title with 7+ flipping owners. And I've always had a craving for a stock rollerskate to start a new with and here was my chance.

I called the kid back and asked if he'd take a trade. He was more than happy to, considering he got the car basically for free. We made the trade and I registered it in my name the first 30 minutes I had it. Then 2 days later I pulled the D15 out and put in a fresh SOHCZC. I just wasn't yet making the $$$ to put in a B series but I was still happy nonetheless. I had the car for 4 days and had already gutted it, put the SOHCZC in, and lined up a CLEAN black/grey complete interior. I put a new timing belt on the car, headgasket, water pump and some other misc items to ensure a nice healthy start. Here is the car as I got it, dirty as heck but nice and stock aside from the kid destroying the springs with a hacksaw.
http://www.we-todd-did-racing....x.jpg

I then had to change from DPFI to MPFI, which led me into a horrible alley of cut wires, destroyed pins and 2 bad ECUs. So I decided to cut my losses and save up some money to fix my errors. Here's what $150 at the junkyard gave me..

Si cluster with speedo cable $35 with warranty - Now I could of gone alot of different ways with this, but I'm a big ***** for OEM. And I can't stand aftermarket tachs of any sort.
PG7 ECU from an 89 Integra 5spd -$45 - Because I've driven SOHCZC powered cars with the PM6 and PG7, and I've always felt a difference. Same ECU I had in my DOHCZC.

Complete interior harness from a 90 4 door 5spd Civic - Because I destroyed my stock harness being an idiot and rushing the project with no $$$ to back me.

And finally this..

A console, it was sitting in another Civic at the junkyard and it had cupholders. Haven't yet test fit it but will later 2night and post pics, assuming I can get the harness in and put the dash back in also.

Now I also got another thing this week making me smile like a kid in a candy shop. I was an installer @ Pepboys, basically 9 hours of oil changes/tires/and alot of starters/alternators since I have some mechanical knowledge. Well I've been doing this a month and 1 of the Service Advisors left,[They greet you at the counter and ask what you want done to your vehicle.] These people start at $10+ an hour. My Manager is a great guy and really liked my enthusiasm so he gave me a shot @ the position with a starting salary of $11.00 an hour. Great, now I've got the cash I've been in need of.

So to get down to business, I'm going to retry the DPFI to MPFI swap, I'll admit it here. I am an idiot when it comes to this. 1 of the mechanics here wanted to do it for me, but wanted to be paid an outrageous amount. I'd much rather have the satisfaction/knowledge of the change myself. So tonight I'm starting this damn swap again. Fresh of mind, and body; I'm venturing off. And to top off this bliss-filled week, I'm moving into this...

$460 + utilities, how you ask? A friend is a loan agent and is buying the house and needs roommates. Me and my Fiance Stephanie are ready to take the next step and with rent that cheap we couldn't refuse. Of course I'm gonna show you a pic of her because I know you perverts want to see pics of everything...

I know this is long as ****, but I can't help but show the great things that have happened to me this week and ask you all to wish me luck on my project. Thx for looking

Too funny with pics of the house and girl...not a bad funny, just humurous. About the Pg7 on the sohc zc, i too tried that same combo. Didnt work that well for me. I literally felt a difference (car wasnt as peppy) and i noticed a 5 mpg drop in gas mileage (i always keep track every time i fill up). Good luck with it all.

edit: just noticed, is your chick laying on the hood??

Awesome stuff man, good for you! Good luck with the DPFI-MPFI conversion, I hear it is really easy. If you get stuck try http://www.rywire.com, they can help take the confusion out of it!

Haha, yeah, that was when my CRX was painted single stage black. And yeah it had a banner, but not for very long. She hated that car but as a bday present gave me some pics of her on it :D. Yeah, I posted all the other crap because I've been real down lately and stuff like this puts a new fire under my ***. Not used to hearing good news, and it seems like I'm hearing alot lately..

So since I've got the harness off and in my room Im'ma try to do the ECU wiring here while its not in the vehicle.

1] Cut C1[orange] and C2[white] wires a few inchs from the harness.
2] Move the cut wires to B10 and B12. Here's a pic of me doing this so you guys can follow me along and make sure I don't **** this harness up.

Okay here I've connected C1[orange] and fused it to B10. And C2[white] now goes to B12.

B10 was empty to I used B2's pin and some of its wire to create a new pin at B10.

Anyone see a problem here? Of course I am going to solder then tape these connections before I put it into the car, but I'dlike to mock them up here while I have my computer with me.

For A1/A3/A5/A7 since those are all going to a diff injector, I can run a wire straight to each injector right? And run A15 straight into the Resistor box? I wanna make sure I can do that before I go any further.

Well I certainly wish you luck on your project as I'm about to start an DPFI to MPFI swap on an 89 hatch myself BUT to me that PG7 you have there looks like it is from an 86-87 integra. It's got the X stamp on the top of the case and the part number tag seems to be in the wrong place along with the error code LED.

Thinking about it, the car did fire a few times using the other ECU before I fried it. And I had checked my wiring 5xs over but with this ECU it wasn't firing. I'm gonna go tomarrow and trade it for the other since I got a warranty until 09/03. Thx for noticing guys, I still can't believe I made that mistake.

Also, I'd really like anyones input on my choice to use 4 wires going straight from A1/A3/A5/A7 to each perspective injector wire. And from A15 to the Resistor box, since there is no relays or fuses or anything between the harness and the injectors I don't see why I couldn't. But again, I'd like someone who has knowledge on the subject to leave some feedback. I want this damn car to fire over fine with no trouble. Thx again for the kind words guys. Lates~

Woot, take that ******* DPFI! I got the car running!!! Purs like a kitten, revs like a beast. Its throwing a few codes[ 9,10,14,20 ] all are fine but 20. My wiring is pretty bad and I'm assuming that this is the cause of 20. And thx to those who said my ECU was wrong. Sure enough the new ECU I got today it started right up.. Im'ma upload some more pics later tonight, thx again all.

The problem is everytime I'd find an Si harness it was either burnt, cut, or somehow rigged together. The DX harnesses were abundant and HF were almost non-existant. In the end it was 2 misplaced pins, and alot of resoldering to fix the problem. But I mean, going from not knowing how to solder to completely repairing like 30+ pins is rather good. I'm good with motors, but wiring is a pita. I had to resolder plug A, repin ALL of B, and fix some cuts on C. But it fires, runs rather well, and it really seems to love that pg7. I have a pm6 and the car has a much different personality. I just can't wait to get the new windshield in and put the interior back together.

THANK YOU ALL WHO CONTRIBUTED IN ANY WAY, YOU GUYS ARE WHAT MAKE THIS SITE THE GREAT BANK OF INFORMATION THAT IT IS. WITHOUT YOU, MANY OF US IDIOTS WOULD BE LOST HT
