1993 Civic CX Hatchback 5 speed w/D16Y8 VTEC & D16Z6 Tranny
SOLD!!
1993 Honda Civic CX Hatchback 5 speed manual - D16Y8 VTEC Engine
PICS AT THE BOTTOM
CLEAN TITLE - hard to find hatchies with a clean title these days
Exterior color: Phantom Gray
Interior color: light gray
What is wrong with it? The front bumper should be replaced/painted, it is cracked. Driver's side fender needs repainted. The tailgate needs to be replaced/repainted. I have a spare tailgate for it, just haven't gotten it painted yet, that will come with the car unpainted. I got a quote from a paint shop to get all three of those things done for about $700. Otherwise there are just your normal paint chips here and there, and the unavoidable CX minor door dings (no side moldings), the car is 12 years old after all.
- The front bumper crack is from someone hitting the car at 5mph when it wasn't moving.
- The dent in the tailgate is from the previous owner backing into something in her driveway. The dent does not impede using the tailgate in any way, it just looks bad.
NO FRAME DAMAGE
Other than that the car is great. The CX is the lightest of all the 92-95 civics, coming in at just a hair over 2000 pounds. Better power to weight ratio. I'm getting about 26-31 mpg with the current engine.
The car runs beautifully, it is my current daily driver. I'm lusting after an S2000 and my wife is making me sell this car first. So HELP ME OUT ;-)
240,000 something miles... replaced gauge cluster and the new one says 96,XXX
I've driven the car for approximately 15-20k miles... I wash it regularly and I've gone nuts cleaning and taking care of this thing, all of my friends say I'm crazy.

- Pioneer CD Player with MP3/WMA playback - 6 months old

Rear speakers are nothing special, they just work
- Currently has a carbon fiber duckbill spoiler and carbon fiber hood. I will be removing those and putting the stock spoiler/hood back on for selling the car. But if the buyer wants them I will sell them with car for an extra $350. The carbon fiber hood is only 2 months old and cost me $400 and the duckbill cost me $160.
- I also have a brand new authentic Wings West polyurethane 4 piece RS lip kit for the car that has not been installed yet. That can be had for an extra $500
- FULL 99 Acura Integra suspension / 4 wheel disc brake swap... with 1" master cylinder/brake booster
Trailing arms/full wishbone setup/lower control arms/hubs... everything. only things that havn't been replaced are the tie-rods and shocks in the front and the springs on all four wheels. The swap has 66,000 miles on it from the car it came off of, all bushings look like new. I just put this whole suspension on the car a week ago.
Also had Les Schwab install an SPC rear camber kit as for some reason my camber was messed up with the
integra parts on there. Les Schwab completed a full 4 wheel alignment on it after installing the kit.
I have the front and rear sway bars from the Integra, I haven't installed them yet. I need just a few
nuts and bolts and they will both mount right up with no problems.
Car has never been lowered, raced, turboed...
- I spent the last 3 months removing interior parts and cleaning/scrubbing every surface I could find...
I removed every plastic piece in the car and cleaned them, cleaned every painted surface of the frame on the inside of the car.
Removed the dash and cleaned it and dissassembled the heater system and cleaned it. Removed the headliner and cleaned it too.
The previous owner put about 220k miles on it as a smoker, and I am not a smoker and do not like breathing that crap while I'm in my car. That and it left a nice coat of soot on everything, which I've been able to remove about 99% of. :-D Makes the interior shine, didn't know the car could look so good on the inside when I bought it...lol
- Engine Swap:
Just built and installed 8 months ago. All assembly done by me personally.
127HP 108 LB Ft Torque - OEM ratings, maybe more as it has higher compression with the Y7 pistons/deck height/milling of head
-d16y7 block with d16y8 SOHC VTEC head - 10.2:1
-Fully balanced d16y7 block (crank pulley, crank, pistons, rods, flywheel balanced to within half a gram)
-Block decked to even out cylinder wall heights
-New main,rod and thrust bearings
-New rings
-Oil pump inspected and approved by a licensed mechanic
-New rear and main seals
-D15B7 crank pulley (lighter and smaller than the d16y7/8)
-D16Y8 Head/distributor/intake manifold
-Head dissassembled and inspected/cleaned by a licensed mechanic
-D16Z6 P28 OBD1 ECU
-Injen Short Ram Intake
-New Catalytic converter
-BRAND NEW RS-R ExMag Cat back exhaust... flat black with chrome tip, quietest after market exhaust available and super sexy
-d16z6 5-speed transmission S20-B000 so I know it is actually from an ex or si, does not grind unless you mis-shift
-Exedy Stage 1 Clutch/pressure plate/throwout bearing/pilot bearing Installed when motor was built
-New Axles installed with engine.
-Running AMSOIL 0W/30 Full Synthetic oil with a AMSOIL Filter
- I also have a DC sports 4-2-1 Ceramic exhaust header than can be put on but the car runs better with the OEM header, I think its a difference with the ECU/Engine not being matched, the fuel curves are better suited towards a more constrictive header, with an hour of dyno time I'm sure it would be making much better power with the DC sports header.
Runs/pulls/drives excellent.
