Rear Disc Brakes!!!??
Ok well im on like stage 4 of trying to get my brakes done well i started to wrk on rear discs and well the screws holding the rotors to the hub were stripped so i used a screw out set from craftsman ... well i broke 4 bits in like 5 min and now i can't drill in far enough to get 1 of the extractors out so im kind of screwed and i don't want to have to pay anyone to do this for me!!! What can i do is there a tool i can use to get these screws out or a bit that will be strong enough to drill in deeper something i need some help im ready to take a freakin sledge to my car!! My car is a 96 ex 4dr 4 wheel disc!! yes it sucks
The same thing happened to me. You need a Cobalt tip drill bit. They are available from Home Depot or Lowes or any decent hardware store. Drill the head of the screw out and the rotor will come off. Don't even worry about extracting the shaft of the screw because you don't need to re-use the mounting screws. Basically the only purpose they serve is to keep the rotor from falling off while you have the caliper off. The wheel holds the rotor in place when it is on the car so those rotor mounting screws are pretty much useless. If you haven't already stripped the other screw heads do yourself a favor and go to autozone to buy an "Impact Screwdriver". Mine was less than $10 and without it I would have never got the other 3 screws out without drilling them as well. Good Luck and you can check my website for a couple pictures of my brake job if you want.

well i went to sears and got a socket with a screwdriver and was going to use that and then i noticed i really stripped both of the screws on my passenger side. So i just need to geta bit that is bascially as big as the screw it self and just kind of drill that b#% out?
