Default how many miles are too many?

I am unfamiliar to bikes and was wondering how many miles is alot for a bike. I was thinking about getting a cbr600 or something to learn on and have fun with. Is 30k miles alot? How many on average can i expect a bike to last?

Depends on service history. A newer bike does not always mean less trouble. I have seen a CBR6 (jellymould) with 80K on it. 30K is not bad, but it does depend on oil changes and how it has been warmed up.

I bought my CBR600 (F3) with 38k miles on it, and when it sold it had 55k. Not a hiccup at all (minus the maintenance items - battery, rr, cct, tires, brakes).

A CBR600 is a great bike to learn on. Good luck.

As long as the bike has been taken care of, regular oil changes etc. it should last as long as you take care of it. I love my 600. Awsome bike.

they aren't much different than cars. i don't see why they can't go 100k+

their short stroke allows to them to rev high but that doesn't translate into increased wear. keep good oil in the bike and you have nothing to worry about.
