clutch install - drop tranny or motor
I'm helping my friend clutch his turbo crx today or tomorrow and i was wondering what the best way to get at it is. i Know most people just take off the two tranny mounts and tilt the motor down and pull the tranny out. But i dont know how far his motor will tilt down since he has a huge turbo hanging off his head? Could it be easier to just pull the whole motor?
i did myclutch on my hf with a ls in it and i kept the motor in the car, its prolly easier to drop the whole motor, but itll prolly take longer....its a bitch to do it withthe motor in the car but takin it out involves a lot ya know so its all up to u but i would say pull it if u have the time and space
When i changed out the tranny in my CRX, we took off the trany mount and the rear mount and dropped that side with the tranny a bit and it worked out well. good luck
Yea i just dont know how much room i have to tilt the motor down till its hitting on the crossmember or something ( with that turbo)
I just swapped in a SI tranny and a new clutch in my Wagon and we didn't tilt the engine at all. I just removed the radius arm off and dropped the tranny onto my chest, no problem. It was easier than droppin the tranny on my R.

When i put a new clutch in with my ls motor i unbolted the tranny and just left it on the ground and changed it there. I didnt get it to where i could pull it out but i didnt have to. Anyway had the wrong clutch TWICE! So I did it a total of 3 times in 2 days. I think i could do it now in about an 1-2hr. Its not bad. The ls should have the same clearance as the b16. I didnt move the motor at all.
