aem intake bypass valves??
yes you will lose power, this has been covered on this board so many times, if your that worried get a short ram or cut the cai and attach a connector that way if it rains you can dissconect it
Just because some people haven't Yet had the misfortune of Hydrolock yet, doesn't mean that it will never happen to them or that It isn't real or something to worry about.
Hydrolock IS real!
And yes this topic has been covered to death.

I'm not trying to pick on anyone here, I just don't want clouded information to be passed on to others. When a bunch of people chime in and say "Well it never happened to me so,,," It just gives the impression that Hydrolock is a myth and rarely seen.
Though it is not a common occurance it happens, and I'd hate to see John Doe Jr. who just shelled out his hard earned grocery clerk salary for a CAI and not opt for a simple protective measure because he didn't get an unbiased opinion.
I'd also hate to see said John Doe Jr. accidentally run through a puddle a little deeper than most and proceed to stab the throttle to WO and have his prized car ingest as much H2O as it can possibly. I think you understand where I'm goin with this?
Facts are that the AEM/CAI does work, and work well albiet some silly occurances like rubbing the radiator hose, and making that trademark whistle.
It also can promote Hydrolock, and if they had sold the valve when I had mine. I would have bought it since I live in the North East and we tend to get snow and rain in copious amounts.
Using common sense is always important especially when installing any aftermarket mod and when a warrenty is in effect. Hydrolocking your car would truely SUCK, if you had a CAI and it bit the dust because you didn't think an ounce of prevention was neccessary or "worth it!"
Remember that not everyone has Common sense.
Although I promote alternative CAI's I still give the AEM/CAI a
! Think about it though, you just might need the valve one time and not have it
Good luck,
A.
